// PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR // WORKSHOP FACILITATOR

Lebanon

  • Ten-week preparation, three-week residency with displaced refugee families and children, 15 miles from Syrian border.

  • Directed and produced performance using non-verbal techniques: puppetry, music, mime.

  • Developed and facilitated post-show workshops exploring the story themes of hope and courage in times of adversity.

  • Outreach at refugee schools and tent homes: jewellry making workshops; photographer for makeshift photo booth (see images for examples).

Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, London

  • Collaboratively devised student-led project.

  • Final year production using physical theatre, movement and multi-media set design.

  • Vignettes devised to explore brief daily encounters, the nature of relationships with others/ourselves and sense of self.

crossing bridges

// INTERN

  • Developed Crossing Bridges, an applied theatre programme bringing together homeless/sex-trafficked young people and Tony Award & Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway artists to create theatre together. Aimed to use theatre to foster confidence and enable them to disrupt label of "homeless youth".

  • March 2015: 12-18 participants aged 16-20 selected for masterclasses, followed by 24-hour devising process culminating in a festival performance.

  • Wrote market research report, communications strategy, guest facilitator handbook & schedules, planned the two-stage participant audition process. Designed posters, festival invitations and Playbill programme. Article later written for NCJAA.

  • Assisted Corporate Sleep Out for sponsors incl. JP Morgan Chase, Red Nose Day.

// ARTS RESIDENCY

Sam Beckman Day Centre, Barnet, London

  • Collaboratively designed and facilitated multi-sensory workshops for individuals living with memory impairment and/or diagnosis of a type of dementia (aged 60-95).

  • Eleven one-hour long workshops (theme of Around the World), using arts-based activities such as puppetry, crafts, music and improvisation. 

  • Team of 5 tasked with running crowdfunding campaign, extensive research into arts programming for individuals with memory impairment, best practice and case studies.

  • 2013 - Performer in family production of Arabian Nights dir. Joyce Branagh. Prop production, puppetry, music.

  • 2015 - Front of house (publicity, ticketing, ushering) and backstage management. Assisting production manager and wardrobe managers. Supporting cast members, implementing health and safety procedures.

  • Supporting the work of organisations improving the welfare of disadvantaged and marginalised young people. Including:

  • Teaching English to local students in Cambodia (Kai’s Orphanage) and monastic schools in Myanmar.

  • Improving living conditions at Children’s Garden in Antipolo City, an orphanage for males aged 13-18 with history of substance abuse and/or homelessness.

  • Produced non-verbal short performances for outreach to neighbouring villages/communities.
